Caroline Lever’s Gift Guide
Lover of all things travel and culture, AHL's Culture Editor and Director of Culture and Entertainment at The London EDITION, shares her list of treasures made with love
My favorite things remind me of people and places I love, and several of the items on my list are made by close friends of mine. Besides their kinship, the pieces share a common attitude toward sustainability, a sense of craftsmanship and a love of adventure.

1.Akari 10A
Akari Light Sculptures by Isamu Noguchi are considered icons of modern design. Designed by Noguchi beginning in 1951 and handmade for a half century by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan, the paper lanterns are a harmonious blend of Japanese handcraft and modernist form.
2.Mother Tongue Magazine Subscription
Mother Tongue is a biannual print magazine that interrogates (and celebrates) modern motherhood through diverse and inclusive stories about art, sex, pop culture, politics, food and a few things in between.
3.Le Monde Beryl Penny Loafers
These Cordovan Leather Penny Loafers, with cushioned calf leather insole. A classic.
4.Jewelry from Alighieri
Modern Heirlooms Inspired by Dante. Too many beautiful items to choose from so be sure to peruse.
5.More or Less Mag
Offering a glimpse of how real people actually dress without sacrificing the transportive magic and fantasy of fashion, More Or Less is not another magazine showcasing only current-season fashion. Vintage, army surplus, sportswear, old school uniforms, craft, rubbish – all are fair game.
6.House of Waris Elephant Friendly Tea
A brisk, strong and smooth black tea comes from the only certified organic, biodynamic, fair trade and wildlife friendly estate in the Dooars region of India, where the flat Gangetic plains of West Bengal meet the foothills of the mighty Himalayas.
