"An homage to Australian design, food, and the arts"
AT A GLANCE: With a convenient location in the city’s center, Ace Hotel Sydney is well-connected as a place and hub for local and international creatives. With 257 designed-forward rooms and an exciting culinary program, health and wellness offerings, it is a well-rounded pick for a city break. The hotel is housed at the site of the earliest kiln discovery from the 1820s, and they respectfully honor its history while celebrating the country’s art via installations and unique pieces. The Ace’s first Australian outpost stays true to the brand’s commitment to nurturing community while channeling Sydney’s irresistible energy.
Highs & Lows
-
The Ace Hotel Sydney is in an incredibly efficient and convenient location for work, and if you are seeking out a cultural experience in Sydney, this is perhaps one of the best options for location
-
Adore the staff here. They are attentive, polite, warm, professional, and exceptional in their service. Brava, The Ace!
-
Plenty of work-friendly spaces. The lobby is great for meetings, the restaurant and cafe are laptop-friendly, and the room has a great little table for working and big windows with plenty of light
-
If you are driving, it’s a little tricky to unload. There is no standing sign directly in front of the building; however, if you alert the staff ahead of time, the porters will meet you with your luggage. Parking is around the corner in a public car park; the hotel charge a daily parking fee

Honoring the architectural and social history of the site with a vision for the future. Celebrating the rich, unbridled, and bountiful landscape of Australian art, design firm Flack Studio curates the permanent art program. Complementary to this is an artist-in-residence program curated by Nina Fitzgerald of The Impact Lab
-
Music
I was incredibly impressed with the vinyl selection, curated by Melbourne-based record label Efficient space. The Lobby is also a great spot for an evening drink with live music most nights and local DJs

Health & Wellness
Ace Hotel Sydney houses a small but very well-equipped modern gym. In addition, my favorite yoga in the entire of Sydney, One Hot Yoga, is a brisk fifteen-minute walk. Barry’s Surry Hills is also a stone's throw for those looking for resistance and a little more intensity
-
Food
Loam, led by Executive Chef Heidi Flanagan, features vegetable-forward cooking coupled with sustainable meats and seafood, all sourced from the region’s best independent farmers and producers. Upon arrival, I received locally baked cookies, a pack of Australian cashews, and a lovely handwritten welcome note. As a huge fan of P&V Wine and Liquor Merchants, I was super happy to see their hand and palette behind the wine selection. I must mention the Kiln, the crown of the hotel, perched on the rooftop. Helmed by chef-partner Mitch Orr and designed by Fiona Lynch. I did not have the pleasure of eating there due to work commitments. However, I will most definitely stop by on my next trip

Surry Hills was once a place filled with artists, nightclubs, and bars. As a fashion student, this is where you would find us on the weekends. Now Surry Hills has evolved and, yes, gentrified. It is filled with incredible restaurants and local cafes. The location is fantastic, nestled in the under bosom of Surry Hills and at the foot of the CBD. Mere minute's walk to all the important places.
