Highs & Lows
-
The Dowager Suite is SO spacious and luxurious — with two terraces, and the most most decadent free standing bath — I could have had a holiday without leaving the room!
-
The Spa. I had the ’Seasonal Treatment’ — a 90 minute massage including Tibetan bowls and oils infused with botanicals from the estate. My therapist Carrie was amazing. I don’t remember when I last felt so relaxed.
-
The Beaverbrook hotel is home to an impressive and thoughtfully curated collection of artworks, prints, photographs and treasures by notable artists such as Jean Cocteau or Richter as well as unknown talent, from contemporary to classical, all assembled in a characteristically organic and effortless fashion.
-
The unexpected gems and eccentricities such as Lady Beaverbrook’s shell grotto, or the tree house nestled deep in the grounds of the hotel. If I’d had more time I would have loved to borrow a bicycle and enjoy more of the hotel’s 400 acres.
-
That I only stayed one night.
-
That I didn’t have an ice-cream from the van.

Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience
Arrival at the hotel is via a long winding drive through a golf course. After taking the final turn, I was met with the most magical sight — six pink striped hot air balloons, perched in the Italian gardens, decking the facade of the hotel — which turned out to be a new dining experience. Reach for the Sky

Food
We ate dinner at the romantic, rustic Garden House restaurant for dinner where we feasted on seasonal Anglo-Italian scrumptiousness much of which came from the grounds of the Estate. Breakfast was served in the Japanese grill where the menu fused traditional English breakfast items with nods to Japan. I enjoyed scrambled eggs with spinach and feta as well as a side of Japanese mushrooms
