Highs & Lows
-
Jakes is a bohemian jewel. A cluster of brightly coloured bungalows nestled amongst the trees, down mosaic pathways…mine was set facing the ocean with the most perfect private deck.
-
Starting the day doing yoga with a women called Empress, on the deck, facing the ocean, with pelicans flying overhead…need I say more?
-
The vibe at Jack Sprat restaurant. This place is a real local hangout.
-
Daytrip to YS Waterfalls.
-
Jakes is dedicated to sustainable community tourism. They donate a $ a night to Breds, a foundation that funds community education and conservation projects. Jakes treats its sewage for irrigation purposes and uses solar panels to heat its water. Jakes swimming pool is saltwater which means the water is “recycled” daily when pumped to and from the sea, and all the produce in the restaurant is grown locally.
-
No mini bar, room service or bathroom amenities… if you care about that kind of thing.
