Highs & Lows
-
Sanará was conceived by former underwater photographer Daniella Hunter and sustainable entrepreneur/Cher’s former manager, Charlie Stuart Gay. They put their heart into the project and are always around the property, so you get the feeling this is an extension of their lives and feel taken care of and welcomed because of that. They’re also very integrated into the community, even starting Tulum’s first international school for kids, after relocating from London in 2012.
-
Sanará means “you will heal” in Spanish. If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, quiet, detoxing and pampering, this is the spot.
-
There are many sustainable design elements throughout the property, including building accommodation raised above ground level to offer protected areas for sea turtles to lay their eggs. Adorable.
-
Sanará was only open for a month when we visited, so things are still being worked on like the boutique and additional rooms. The following week they held the first TEDxTulum, about incorporating Mayan culture into your every day life. So it’s clear that as they grow and settle in, even more magical things will transpire.
-
Our bedding was awesome. I haven’t slept that well in years.
-
All the amenities at Sanará are worth the money, but for the budget conscious, there are more affordable yoga and breakfast options down the beach.
