The Beach Caves at Six Senses Ibiza
- Where:
- Why:Kicking off our Ibiza summer holiday with a bang by co-hosting an event on regenerative food systems at the Beach Caves
- When:End of June 2022
- Who:Myself, my boyfriend (El Principito), and my gang of 'regeneratively inclined' friends
"A hotel within a hotel with sensual stylish touches for the discerning traveler"
Highs & Lows
-
Our enormous bed in our ocean-front suite could happily fit seven people! Loved the cheeky reference to Ibiza’s hedonistic past, although Principito was not lucky enough this time to actually find five more goddesses for a sleepover. We did however have some of our best slumbers on the island in this enormous and soft bed made for both dreaming and love-making.
-
The pool is not highly chlorinated like other hotel pools, a big plus for my sensitive skin. On our last day, we spent eight hours poolside and were not disappointed by the food, service, and people-watching.
-
I’m still dreaming about the spa and that steam room. I didn’t get to experience the hammam so I would have a good excuse to return.
-
As a vegetarian, I ran out of new dishes to try after two days, and while I really enjoyed the vegetables from the farm it would be lovely to see them expand their options for those that don’t eat meat.

Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience
Very attentive and thoughtful communication with the Beach Caves team regarding my stay and transport to and from the airport. This last part will be especially appreciated by guests as the hotel is on the far north side of the island and a hotel shuttle makes leaving the airport a much more pleasant experience

Future Forward
I want to applaud the Six Senses for their commitment to eliminating plastic, while this is the bare minimum hotels can do in terms of sustainability — it’s good to see such a large hotel following through on its promise. The Beach Caves, an offshoot of the Six Senses Hotel, also sources a good chunk of its food from a local farm while also saving all food scraps from the kitchen and guests in order to send it back to the farm for composting. On an island where 96% of all food is imported and much of the agricultural land is not being utilized, this is an important step in the right direction to making the food system on the island circular. A portion of revenue also goes to support organizations like the Lonely Whale Foundation and Project Zero, as well as local community programs like the Happy Hippie Cat sanctuary

Music
Even though we had a wonderful speaker in our suite we never used it, preferring instead to leave our windows open so we could hear the soft sound of the Beach Caves playlist wafting into our room, the African funk sounds carried inside by the ocean breeze. It was so exactly on point and in sync with my eclectic, sexy world music taste, that my boyfriend even asked if it was my playlist!

Health & Wellness
The Six Senses has absolutely hit the mark with its Health and Wellness program and Spa. Principito and I wanted to start off our summer holiday right by exercising and feeling good — and so we were thrilled to see a diverse daily schedule for those wanting to feel good in their summer bodies. There was a solid, modern gym, yoga studio plus group classes including Meditation, Breathwork, and Animal Flow (for those who haven’t tried this workout, I highly recommend it for strength and mobility and a lot of laughs). Plus trainers like the wonderful Alvaro offer personalized one-on-one workout sessions. Now let's get to the spa. Six Senses is known for its world-renowned spas, but nothing could have prepared me for the gorgeous elegance I encountered there. We marveled while we sweat up a storm in the most beautiful steam room I have visited in the world. There was no shortage of novel spa experiences to try out, from palm readings, head massages, oxygen-assisted breathing machines, and cryotherapy. I was in spa junkie heaven! Even hard-to-please Principito was blown away and vowed to return as soon as he could

Bar, Events & Nightlife
Here is where The Beach Caves truly shines. Curated by Ben Pundole, the hospitality industry’s man of the hour and a walking embodiment of taste, charm, and generosity — the bar and the restaurant are a testament to the elevated, cool, and sexy spaces that Ben is famous for. The kind of vibe that makes people drive 45 min across the island to experience it. Saying that you crossed the island to go somewhere is the highest compliment in Ibiza, and on the night of our event, I saw no less than 30 exceptional humans who had made the pilgrimage to experience to famous Beach Caves sunset and dinner. After our delicious meal (all the food for our event was sourced locally) we enjoyed locally made Hierbas (the traditional alcoholic drink of Ibiza, made from locally grown herbs) in the speakeasy and checked out the club and recording studio, also hosted by the Beach Caves. Yes, you read right. There is even a recording studio! Ben and the gang have left no stone unturned in their mission to make the Beach Caves an unforgettable experience

Minibar & Retail
Minibar was stocked with thoughtful items, with healthier options for people like me! And the hotel’s boutique was curated with designers like Stella McCartney with an additional focus on artisan-made jewelry, and accessories

This is definitely on the higher end of the price point spectrum, but all those I saw at the hotel seemed to be enjoying every moment and thoughtful detail of the hotel so I would say that it was money well spent

The Beach Caves is located in the north of the island, known for being the quiet and secluded sister to the island’s wild and hedonistic southern side. If you want to explore then is definitely worth renting a car, but I can imagine one being equally as happy not leaving the premises except to hike the nearby trails. The beach is a blissful 3 min walk from the room.
