Constructed by L. Murray Dixon, The Betsy first opened as, The Betsy Ross Hotel, in 1942. An anchor of architectural consistency despite its ever-changing surroundings. The Betsy Ross was one of the few structures to maintain its Florida-Georgian façade as art deco design dominated Miami. The Betsy Ross exterior was completely renovated in 2003 and was reborn as the boutique hotel, The Betsy, in 2006. After a complete interior and exterior renovation, the spectacularly timeless Betsy, reopened in 2009.

The Betsy is the brainchild of a masterful meeting of architectural and interior design minds. The original building architects were L. Murray Dixon and Henry Hohauser. While the interior is the product of Diamante Pedersoli and Carmelina Santoro.
